What is a Celebration Cake / Cheese Tower
A Celebration Cake/Cheese Tower is wheels of cheese, specially selected by a customer, stacked to resemble a classic wedding cake. They can be used for any occasion (Wedding, Anniversary, Special Birthday, Special Event) and make a wonderful centerpiece which can then be shared with the guests. The Cheese Tower is usually three to six cheeses in height.
When should you order your cheese?
Order well in advance to ensure availability and that the cheese is at perfect ripeness on the day.
How will the cheese be delivered?
The cheese is supplied unassembled and the decorations will not be included. Each cheese will be individually wrapped/boxed.
The customer, caterer or hotel staff will provide the decorations and decorate the Cheese Tower.
How is the Cheese Tower assembled?
The Cheese Tower can be assembled in two ways:
-
Stack the cheeses on each other. You can use a circle of greaseproof paper between each cheese. Use three, four or five cheeses of different diameters for most impact.
-
Separate the cheeses with stands, pillars etc. Use glass separators, which can then be decorated, to add height and impact to the Cheese Tower. Soft cheese can also be stacked in this way by cutting a hole in the middle and placing a suitable pillar (or eggcup) with a plate on top which then takes the weight of the next cheese tier without impacting on the soft cheese below.
What do you use to decorate the Cheese Tower?
Presentation and decorating the Cheese Tower should be organised with your venue or wedding planner.
-
Decorations should complement the general theme of the occasion, complementing flowers, bouquets and other table decorations in use.
-
Flowers, decorative ivy, fruits such as figs, grapes or berries, nuts such as walnuts, hazelnuts or brazil nuts can all be used to decorate the Cheese Tower, along with figurines or other cake topper.
-
Lights, candles and ribbons can be coordinated to the colour scheme and theme of the occasion.
-
For a Wedding Celebration Cake, use flowers to match the wedding bouquet and scatter the heads of the flowers around the cake.
-
Utilise seasonal availability of fruit, flowers or foliage.
